DeNami Sneak Peeks!!!!

Hey everyone!

Have you seen all the exciting sneak peeks going on at the DeNami Blog right now? The countdown continues to July 1, when all 50+ new stamp designs will be released! Let me tell you, this new collection is OUTSTANDING.

Here are some cards that highlight just a few of the FABULOUS new stamps. Enjoy!

I. Love. These. Pears. The pears were the first stamps I used from the new collection, and I had to force myself to put them away and move on to other (equally beautiful) stamps. Pairing the stamp with yummy colors and glitter just makes me so happy!
Oh, the apples. Talk about delicious. The apple basket is such a beautiful image and it fits so perfectly with all the great circle word stamps from DeNami. I could have stamped and colored the apple orchard background all day.
So, I'm really a cat person, but these Playful Puppies are truly adorable and you can't help but smile when you see all four of these furry friends in the set.

There are tons more cute ideas at the DeNami blog and more to come, so be sure to check it out and DON'T MISS our July 1 release of the entire collection for Fall/Winter 2010. I really can't wait for everyone to see it!

Summer Card and Summer Plans!

Hey there everyone,

Hope yours is shaping up to be a great summer! We're about to kick ours off with an annual trip to the Oregon Coast. Beautiful! It's become one of my favorite yearly traditions, and I'm super excited to get away. Later in July I'll be going to middle school camp for Young Life (YAY!) followed by a family campout, which brings all the relatives together in the great outdoors. What a great summer!

With that in mind, this summer-themed card is particularly appropriate, since what you see is pretty much what I can't wait to do: relax in the sun! This card was self-indulgent in other ways, too. I love coloring on my cards, so I just picked out some really fun stamps to color: flip flops, tropical drinks, etc, and of course DeNami's stylish cover girl, Mimi! (I want her job!) And don't miss the little bit of bling on my flip flops in the way of two hot pink rhinestones. Yum!

There is a fabulous summer card challenge going on now at the DeNami blog. There's no limits or restrictions -- just make a fun summer card and submit for chance to be in the Fab 3 Spotlight!

Rosevine Heart Card

Hi all,

My inner purple lover finally came in with this card! I kind of forgot how much I really do love the color purple, and haven't stamped with it much lately. There was something very satisfying about the rich, saturated royal purple cardstock I used, and the bright pop of contrast with the lime was an unusual but fun choice for me.

I only used one ink and two stamps on this card, which is pretty minimal for me. I usually like to mix and match my stamps -- variety is the spice of life. A few simple layers and touches of magenta glitter on the flowers and amethyst glitter on the scallop border stamp gave it some glam, and the buttons made the rosevine heart more interesting, I think. I like the contrast of an elegant stamp with some funky colors.

If you like this stamp, you've got to pop on over to the DeNami Blog, because it's the Featured Product of the month and there are lots of great card ideas for you to check out!

Stamping in Stitches!

Hey friends!

DeNami Design is sponsoring the Wee Memories challenge "In Stitches", and lucky me, I just love the stitched stamps from DeNami! I use them often on my cards, especially baby cards. These stamps are especially good for me, because I can't sew to save my life. In fact, I dressed my girls in matching cherry dresses yesterday and was asked no less than three times if I made the dresses. I laughed every time (and so would my husband, who mends his own pants). There's a picture below (it's not the best quality but the cuteness shines through anyway).

But I digress. Not only is DeNami sponsoring this super fun challenge, but the prize, too: a $30 online gift certificate to denamidesign.com! You can use real or not-so-real stitching (like me!) and I just have to say one of my favorite embellishments, buttons, sure would go great with all that stitching! So enjoy, and have a great week!

Our Little Herb Garden - Part 2

Hey there,
you may be wondering why a post about my little herb garden has a picture of a bowl of soup. Well, look closely, ladies and gentlemen. See those two little green leaves in the center of that steaming bowl of soup? Those are my very own basil leaves from my very own little herb garden. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, go here. I know. It's a miracle. I haven't killed those poor little plants yet.

This is the first of what I hope to be many guest appearances on this blog by my little herbs.  The soup is my first attempt at from-scratch Tomato-Basil-Garlic Soup and tonight's test subject (AKA husband) seemed to enjoy it. I personally don't care for canned tomato soup or tomatoes in general, but as tomato soups go, it wasn't too bad (if I do say so myself). I wish I could tell you I was able to use lots of fresh basil leaves from my garden. The sad truth is, though my herbs haven't died, the basil is not exactly flourishing under my care. The other herbs seem to have a stronger survival instinct. It's a little ironic, since the basil was the one herb I was most interested in cultivating. Oh, well. At least I have a garnish.

For anyone interested, I used this recipe for the soup. My only change was to add some minced garlic.

Aloha to a Tropical Birthday Card

Aloha everyone!

Another Friday night stamping, and another birthday card to share! I never realized until now that three of my very closest friends have birthdays within a month of each other. May and June are great months! Tomorrow I'll be heading to a luau-themed birthday party, so I thought I'd make a card to reflect that island spirit. (By the way, I could so go for a Hawaiian vacation about now!)

I haven't used the the Tropical Dreams stamps by DeNami in a long time, and it was fun to pull them back out and play around. I also played around with a color scheme I don't normally use, so this card was really a nice change of pace.

I encourage you all to bring out some of YOUR "vintage" stamps and give them new life (or at least the light of day!). You never know what you may rediscover!
